PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
July 21, 2025
Dear Parents/Guardians:
I am excited to begin the 2025-2026 school year with a renewed focus on what is most important, providing each Weigand student with a quality education. It is an honor to lead a group of dedicated teachers and support staff who are committed to guiding students on their path to discovery, growth and academic success. Our mission is to provide a nurturing environment where children learn the skillset to be respectful and reflective individuals.
Classes begin on Thursday, August 14, 2025. Gates will be open at 7:30 a.m. each morning. School starts at 8:00 a.m. and dismissal is at 2:23 p.m. It is important for your child to arrive to school on time as students are provided a nutritious breakfast each morning. At the end of each day, students will be dismissed as follows: Grades UTK & K will be dismissed from the gate at the corner of 105th Street and Weigand Ave. Grades 1-3 will be dismissed from the main gate on Weigand Avenue, in front of the school. Grades 4 & 5 will be dismissed from the gate at the corner of 105th Street and Gorman Ave.
We will continue to provide the supervised LA’s Best afterschool program from 2:23-6:00 p.m. Students must be picked up promptly by 6:00 p.m. Applications for the LA’s Best program are available after school with the school site coordinator. Reminder: you must enroll your child in the LA’s Best program each year, space is limited.
Please know that we have a voluntary school policy for uniforms. We strongly encourage our students to wear uniforms. Our school colors are Royal Blue and Orange.
This year we will offer more opportunities for students to participate in programs, clubs and activities where students can tap into their talents and explore the world around them.
Kindergarten Parents: Please join me in the auditorium on August 13th at 1:30 p.m. with your child for a Kindergarten parent orientation. I look forward to meeting you and discussing the many opportunities for parents to volunteer and how we can partner in the academic success of your child/children.
My hope is that all of our Weigand Tigers return to our school. However, if your plans have changed and your child will not be returning to Weigand, please telephone us at 323-567-9606. I look forward to a wonderful year.
Respectfully,
Tamara Honegan
Principal
